NLM’s General Assembly and summer conference is a mission conference hosted by Norwegian Lutheran Mission (NLM) every third year in July.
The General Assembly is the highest decision-making body in NLM’s democratic organisational structure and is comprised of approximately 900 delegates representing congregations and various kinds of fellowships and groups registered with NLM. It is possibly the biggest regularly assembled democratic body in Norway.
Through several days of debates and elections, the General Assembly selects the members of NLM’s executive board, votes on major issues and makes strategy decisions that dictates the day-to-day activities in the organisation.
Over the years, the General Assembly has grown to become one of Scandinavia’s biggest Christian summer conferences, with more than 5000 participants. The conference is renowned for biblical and mission-oriented teaching and a high level of professionalism. It offers high-profile speakers, concerts and activities for all age groups, including youth meetings and all-day activities for children.
God longs for fellowship with everyone. He wants to draw near to us through Jesus – to lift us up and give us forgiveness, life and hope.
The theme for the 2018 conference is “closer”. It’s about getting closer to God – but also about getting closer to other people. If we want to bring Jesus to our neighbours, we also need to know their joys and sorrows. This is mission.
Our dream is for this conference to bring you closer to Jesus. We hope this week will change you and inspire you to make a difference in your everyday life – where you live.
We also hope that when you seek Christ, you will find that people far away, people you don’t know, have become your neighbours.
God’s father heart beats for those who don’t have a Christian neighbour as well. This is mission.
